Ministries

The Walk to Emmaus is a 72-hour Christian pilgrimage whose purpose is to strengthen Christian leaders within the local church. We are happy to answer any questions about the Walk to Emmaus. These weekends have been life changing for many in our congregation.

Stephen Ministry is a program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances both in our congregation and community.  Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry.  Those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what is said in the caring relationship will remain private.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

A prayer shawl or blanket is a tangible way for people who are hurting to be reminded that we care and are praying for them. No knowledge is necessary, just a willingness to learn. If you are interested and would like more information about this special ministry, please contact Jeanne Patterson at 404-482-7854.

HFH of Cleveland County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. For more information, contact HFH of Cleveland County at 704-482-6200.

United Methodist Men of the Western North Carolina Conference have the opportunity to make a major impact on the many millions of men in our church through the United Methodist Men’s organization in our local churches.  The mission of the WNC Conference Organization is two-fold. First, support and resource United Methodist Men’s Units throughout our annual conference, and, second, to provide mission support for needs  in our conference such as Habitat for Humanity, The Children’s Homes, Disaster Relief and other needs as they arise.

Kairos Outside

Kairos Outside provides spiritual healing to families of the incarcerated, who often feel that they too are “doing time.” Spouses, parents and other relatives of prisoners meet with teams of Kairos volunteers to share their faith and gain strength from Christian community.

Kairos of North Carolina

Kairos volunteers come from all walks and strata of life. They all share a desire to follow Christ’s admonition of Matthew 25:36, “I was in prison and you visited me.” If you feel God’s call to minister to the incarcerated as a part of a Kairos team, contact our church office at 704-487-8491 to find out about how you can get involved, and find out about qualification and training and to be put in touch with the local Kairos community.
